Our purpose is to enable a safe and secure community environment that will be a source of pride for future generations; to ensure crime provention through our presence and community education; to protect the rights of citizens from those who wish to compromise that right; and to continually grow with and lead the community into the future.

We have a modern networked computer system that is continually updating with current technologies. Recently the Aberdeen Police Department and the Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Department merged their databases. This is expected to provide better service to the citizens of Aberdeen, as well as the entire county.

Special areas of assignment include: K-9 (apprehension dog and a narcotics detection dog), Bicycle Patrol, Field Training Officer, Firearms instructor, Motorcycle Officer, SERT Officer, Investigations Detective, Drug Task Force Detective, Clandestine Lab Team member, and School Resource Officer.

The Police building is a modern facility constructed in 1988. It contains a fully equipped fitness room, a training room, locker rooms, photo lab, evidence processing room, Forensic Video Station, and Armory.
